Professor Donatella Danielli selected as a Fellow of the AWM

Professor Donatella Danielli has been selected for inclusion in the 2020 class of Fellows of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM). 

The AWM Fellows Program recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to the support and advancement of women in the mathematical sciences, consistent with the AWM mission: “to encourage women and girls to study and to have active careers in the mathematical sciences, and to promote equal opportunity and the equal treatment of women and girls in the mathematical sciences.”

For her generous and consistent involvement in, and remarkable impact on, a large number of excellent local, national, and international initiatives to support interest and involvement of women in mathematics at all levels; and for remarkable, pioneering contributions positioning her as a role model for more junior mathematicians, particularly women.

Professor Danielli earned her PhD in Mathematics from Purdue University in 1999, then held a position as Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University before returning in 2001 to Purdue, where she is Professor of Mathematics.  She is also a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society and has received several awards and distinctions for her teaching, research, and leadership.

The AWM is a leading society for women in the mathematical sciences, and is one of the societies comprising the Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences.
